The fifteenth year
Restart
Two Steps Back
One Leap Forward
– Earthrise, Haken
The fourteenth year didn’t end very well. I’m not going to get into details now. What for?
I suppose it was the same for many of you. There are lessons to take in calmly. Some processes are still playing out.
It hits hard when a social fabric that was already frayed finally comes apart completely. Because you realize that the net holding all of us up is not only gone, it was hanging by weak threads all along. What can you do?
What keeps you alive, what becomes the strong pillars holding up your life, are your family, your friends, and the people who love you.
Resolve to carry on!
Another life awaits beyond the horizon.
Evolve and we’ll ensure our survival.
We are the revolution!
– Earthrise, Haken
Sometimes it’s better to back up so you can take another road, because the one you took was the wrong one, or the wrong one for the moment.
Reverse, carefully, eyes on the rearview mirror, and turn the other way.
Or, as a Haken song puts it, take two steps back to leap forward.
I haven’t written on this blog for months. You’ll learn some of the reasons in time, but it’s time to pick the voice back up. To say what I have to say. To keep contributing.
La Naturaleza del Software (The Nature of Software) turns fifteen in August of this year, and it’s worth it to keep writing.
You’ll notice the house is changing. I’m remodeling. I’m migrating the content to a new platform, so some things will be missing for a few days.
Keep reaching through horizons,
to leave our past behind us.
We turn toward the earthrise!
– Earthrise, Haken
I’ve also picked my other blogs back up; over these months I’ve written a few things on La Sombra de Dijkstra and on Akarrú. I invite you to visit those sites, which complement this one with other sides of my tastes and hobbies.
I also invite you to join as a sponsor through Patreon. If you want to support my work on this blog and the other blogs I publish, that’s one way to do it. A while back I decided to stop running ads on this blog, but keeping it going has costs that I hope to cover with your support.
There’s a project I’m preparing that will see the light soon in this space. I hope you like it.
The fifteenth year brings big challenges, but I’m not one to dodge challenges. Let’s see what 2020 has in store for us.
But since music has always been part of this blog, we’ll start with a song that gives us a dose of well-deserved optimism.
