Kill it early
Do you know the best way to kill a crocodile? While it’s still in the egg.
“My general philosophy is, “Kill it early and save your money.”
There’s this huge myth in IT that we’ve got more failures than other
industries. The problem is we’ve defined “failure” as “not finishing
despite all adversity.” Most other industries don’t do this and will
kill a project early if it is obviously not going to make it. We’ll
ram a project through no matter what, even if it’s obvious that it’ll
fail miserably. In IT, we’ve missed the idea that we can just avoid
projects or kill them early and avoid spending all that cash.”
