The Department of Computer Science of the Universidad de Chile and its alumni community, with the support of INTEL Chile, invite you to take part in the first discussion panel "Cloud Computing in Chile: a conceptual framework for the cloud".

What defines a Cloud Computing solution?

What characteristics do the offerings of local providers have?

Are there actually offerings in the local market with the characteristics proper to Cloud Computing?

What has the experience of implementing cloud services been like in the organizations that have developed this kind of solution?

What should we look at before starting a project to adopt the cloud?

These are some of the topics that will be reviewed with the guests at the discussion table.

In 1969, Leonard Kleinrock, one of the chief scientists of ARPANET, the project that gave rise to the Internet, said: "As of now, computer networks are still in their infancy, but as they grow up and become more sophisticated, we will probably see the spread of ‘computer utilities,’ which like present electric and telephone utilities, will service individual homes and offices across the country."

This vision of computing services, based on a utility model, anticipates the massive transformation of the entire computing industry, in which computing services will be available on demand, like water, electricity, gas and telephone services in today’s society.

In the context of this challenge, this first discussion panel is being held to review how far this trend has developed in Chile.

The Department of Computer Science of the Universidad de Chile and its alumni community, with the support of INTEL Chile, invite you to take part in the first discussion panel Cloud Computing in Chile: a conceptual framework for the cloud.

The panel will feature 4 distinguished professionals:

  1. Juan Carlos Barroux, Business Development Manager Bolivia, Chile & Paraguay, INTEL Chile

2.-Eduardo Díaz, Deputy Manager of Technology at Previred.

3.-Bárbara Poblete, faculty member, Department of Computer Science, Universidad de Chile

4.- Carlos Regonesi, Commercial Director of Cloud Computing, Sonda.
