Satisfaction
There are two important things you have to do in this life: give thanks and give recognition.
Last night at work I had the chance to recognize several of my collaborators, and I also received a recognition from my company, which made me very happy.
For a couple of years we have taken on important projects. That is why doing our job well matters so much, considering security and compliance with quality standards and regulations; and of course trying to make as few mistakes as possible, because if we got it wrong we would affect millions of Chilean workers.
When it falls to you to lead a team, you have to take on that task with great commitment and respect for your collaborators. I’m not telling you anything new, but in spite of everything they teach you, and all the coaching you get, there are moments when this task is not easy.
An executive’s main job is not tracking the Gantt chart, or building Excel spreadsheets full of cold numbers and indicators. No, an executive’s main task and concern is working with people. The executive’s mission is to be a facilitator, and that even includes an emotional toll you would never suspect. “Good leadership is about people”.
But I wanted to tell you that I am satisfied, that in spite of all the difficulties we faced we pulled through, and we succeeded in very important challenges, and I wanted to share that satisfaction with you. Thanks to all of you for reading and following this blog; I hope that looking back you feel something similar.
