Barbarians and gentlemen
The English have a saying: “rugby is a game for barbarians played by gentlemen, while football is a game for gentlemen played by barbarians”.
When it comes to programming languages, it seems to me that Java is like rugby, and C# is the equivalent of football.
For their part, the English who play cricket claim that “cricket is a game for gentlemen played by gentlemen”.
So which one is the cricket of programming languages?
When the world was younger I would have answered: Delphi (Object Pascal) is the cricket of programming languages! But now? I don’t know. Python? It has a long way to go. Scala? Too complicated. Haskell, or F#? Could be. I don’t know, what do you think?
