Fake Plastic Rock
When I was a teenager I played drums in a band we put together with my school friends. It was a beautiful time. We spent whole days practicing in my room, which was conveniently far from the rest of the house
Regular readers of this blog must find it odd that several days have gone by without a post. The reason is quite simple: vacation. But I’m back, although I plan to spend the last days of my vacation with my kids forming a new band, though this time it’s a plastic band, with fake instruments and canned music in the form of a video game, because I’ve caught the Rock Band 2 bug and I’m playing like a man possessed.
To those of you who are parents, and who have the chance, I suggest you buy this video game and share a good stretch of family fun, enjoying good rock, of course.
Some comments:
If you’ve played drums you can start on medium or expert level quickly, but of course it’s not the same as playing the drums; the layout isn’t the same, and you only have one pedal. I suggest looking for a drum kit with cymbals; with that you can set it up more like a real kit.
It’s cheaper to buy the instruments separately and the game on its own than to buy the complete rock band game. In our case, we saved about 40% of the cost.
And yes, it’s very addictive and fun.
Of course I found out why my blog mentor Jeff Attwood is also a fan of Rock Band, and the title of this post comes from his blog dedicated to this game.
