Atheist summer camp
Via Boing Boing, I learn that Richard Dawkins is funding a summer youth camp for kids aged 8 to 17, with the idea of teaching them critical thinking.
Along with the traditional activities of canoeing and swimming, the kids who take part in the five-day camp in Somerset will learn about rational skepticism, moral philosophy, ethics and evolution. They will also be taught how to debunk phenomena such as crop circles and telepathy. The post explains that:
“In the Invisible Unicorn Challenge, any child who can prove that unicorns do not exist will win a £10 note - which features an image of Charles Darwin, the father of evolutionary theory - signed by Dawkins, Britain’s most prominent atheist.”
That last announcement made me very sad.…
For the unicorns, of course.
