The wealth of the ignorant

Ignorance kills.

The ignorant man always ends up badly. He suffers. He doesn’t know how to defend himself, ends up poor and goes hungry.

There are all kinds of ignorant people. The ignorant man is not only “one who has no knowledge of something”; he is also the one who doesn’t understand what is happening to him.

When the ignorant man suffers, all he knows how to do is scream, cry, grumble or demand help from the authorities, because he doesn’t know what to do to get out of his miserable situation.

The ignorant man is not only the one who doesn’t know something; he is also the one who doesn’t know how to reason. He argues badly, reaches wrong conclusions, and wears himself out attacking invisible enemies. He ends up paranoid.

The ignorant man talks and talks nonsense. The ignorant man is the king of “somebody should”. The ignorant man organizes meetings, forums, coalitions, movements, parties and Facebook groups to get together with other ignorant people like him, because he doesn’t want to feel alone. But he is lost, because ignorance is self-satisfied.

The ignorant man follows whoever he believes is less ignorant, but his ignorance keeps him from verifying his leader’s worth. Because there are ignorant people with a silver tongue, and the ignorant people who follow them repeat their words as if they were sacred revealed truths.

The ignorant man is proud. He cuts himself off from those who really know, whom he despises, ignores or fears. He coats himself in a varnish of false wealth, or false wisdom, a varnish that time and reality take care of wearing away.

The ignorant man is incapable of noticing how he is getting poorer and more miserable all the time.

The ignorant man ends up with no wealth at all.

And Chile is an ignorant society.
