WolframAlpha?

Stephen Wolfram has stirred up a lot of anticipation by promising “a new paradigm for using computers and the web”.

From what his announcement lets on, he promises to bring together the power behind Mathematica, the advances in search engines, and natural language, to get at information that is immediately computable:

“…armed with Mathematica and NKS I realized there’s another way: explicitly implement methods and models, as algorithms, and explicitly curate all data so that it is immediately computable.”

Whatever it turns out to be, you can’t ignore someone like Stephen Wolfram, so we’ll have to wait for WolframAlpha to go live in May….
