TEC
TEC is an acronym that stands for Traumatismo Encefalo Craneano, that is, traumatic brain injury.
Traumatic brain injury (TEC) is possibly one of the most frequent clinical conditions a physician has to face. Within the pediatric population it is very common, and the great majority are minor TECs that do not require medical attention.
Except in the Enlaces project (the Chilean Ministry of Education’s school technology program), where TEC means Tecnologías para una Educación de Calidad, Technologies for Quality Education (see this example of its use).
This stupid trend of inventing acronyms goes on. Before long we’ll be hearing ministry officials talking about “the TECs” every five minutes.
I think there are several TECs at the ministry (in the original sense of the term), judging by the symptoms observed. Is there a pediatrician in the audience who could see the people at Enlaces?
