On having goals
Having goals is a pain in the neck. […]
The thing about goals is that living without them is a lot more fun, in the short run.
It seems to me, though, that the people who get things done, who lead, who grow and who make an impact… those people have goals.
You have to have goals, and something Godin doesn’t say is that goals must be known, otherwise how can you certify that they were met?
Here are some goals for this 2009. Sorry there are so few, but the others are more personal, or professional (and I’d get in trouble if I disclosed them ;)
Grow the number of RSS subscribers to this blog to more than 1,000 ;) in the first half of the year.
Lose weight, and get my health under control.
Take my youngest daughter abroad for the first time, within a year from now.
Enjoy my free time with my wife and kids more. I’ve gotten very lazy, and that’s not good.
And you, what goals do you have for this year?
