The CEIBAL project - measuring the impact of the OLPC on education

The CEIBAL project (Conectividad Educativa de Informática Básica para el Aprendizaje en Linea, or Educational Connectivity of Basic Computing for Online Learning) is Uruguay’s experience built on the OLPC.

They have recently published some very interesting conclusions about the pilot they are running.

Here is the presentation of those conclusions.

The important parts:

• Computers don’t generate activity on their own.
• The activity is guided by the teacher.
• The impact in the first 3 grades is doubtful.
• The kids don’t spend all their time glued to the computer.
