Windows in Quechua

The headline in La Razón:

“Windows in Quechua dazzles the ruling party. The president of the Constituent Assembly and the Foreign Minister were at the Microsoft launch yesterday, in Sucre. The multinational has a plan to promote native languages; it will train 900 teachers.”

Contrast that with the Chilean attitude toward Mapudungun.

Mapuche communities reject Microsoft’s proposal

The idea of producing a Windows operating system in Mapudungun has stirred up strong opposition among groups and representatives of the Mapuche world. The main voice against the system has been the werken (spokesman) and current presidential candidate Aucan Huilcaman, who said that the existence of this program damages indigenous sovereignty, since it was arranged behind the backs of the Mapuche communities.

As far as I know, the Windows in Mapudungun project was cancelled.

If Evo Morales has no drama with it, why do we?

I think there is Mapudungun support in Linux, but I’m not sure.
