Free software is an ideology
Free software is Stallman’s ideology, period.
The publication of GPL3 confirms it.
It’s curious how, in the name of freedom, freedom has to be restricted, and GPL3 is exactly that, a way of restricting my freedom. Personally, I published Akarru under GPL2, but having to publish my private keys, or limit the field of use of my applications, as GPL3 proposes, doesn’t sit well with me.
I’m reminded of the famous hippie slogan from the sixties: “it is forbidden to forbid”. GPL3 is not only ridiculous, it unmasks what we all suspected, that Stallman is really Stalinman.
Personally I agree with the position of Linus Torvalds, who also respects the freedom to use Linux even for things he may not like.
That’s what freedom is about, isn’t it?
