An interview with the founder of Digg.com
Since I’m very interested in this subject, for obvious reasons, I decided to translate the interview with Kevin Rose, founder of digg.com.
Interview with Kevin Rose
You can read the original interview (in English) on Jonathan Cohen’s site, Philoneist.
It opens like this:
What is “important news” and can the internet public be relied on to “digg” it?
Important news is news that is relevant to a specific community. Rather than having those editorial decisions made by a very limited number of people, digg lets the community decide. We believe in the wisdom of crowds.
The rest of the questions and answers cover whether Digg is an accurate zeitgeist of what the mass public cares about, the site’s stats, the comparison with Delicious and Slashdot, the competition, Digg’s influence on journalism and blogging, how voted stories reach the front page, the expansion beyond technology categories, the “Digg Effect”, the business model, the venture capital, Digg Spy, how Kevin Rose got the project started, and how he sees social news promotion evolving over the next year and the next five.
That’s it for the questions of the Kevin Rose interview.
