Jobs offered OS X for free to the ULPN project

A note before the news: please remember that this is an educational project, not the development of a cheaper notebook. The project is for the children, so please read the project’s FAQ before weighing in.

Jobs and Gates get involved

Steve Jobs offered Apple’s OS X operating system at no cost to the 100-dollar laptop project (ULPN).

But the offer was declined, because they want a 100% open source project, and they are already working with Red Hat. Meanwhile, last week Negroponte talked with Bill Gates and Craig Mundie (Microsoft’s CTO). They are looking at what kind of involvement they will have with the project.
