Natural disasters

There are no natural disasters. The effects of Katrina or of other natural phenomena become disasters when they affect humanity. To nature, our constructions are insignificant.

Disasters of this kind are cultural, or they are the foreseeable result of the consequences of political decisions.

Unfortunately, those who make the decisions follow their own agendas and don’t consider the consequences of the climate change we are suffering. Despite the Kyoto agreement, greenhouse gas emissions have increased in Europe. The New Orleans tragedy is not the first, nor will it be the last. The problem is that things will get worse.
