You can't protect software

If you write a program and build some protection mechanism into it, it is always possible to alter the program so that it skips your protection mechanism.

Even if your program is compiled to machine code, and even obfuscated (if you use a virtual machine), with enough time and the right resources it is always possible to break any protection mechanism (a crack).
